Shiva Rea holds an M.A. in Dance from UCLA’s World Arts and Cultures Program, where she currently teaches. She is a well-known contributor to Yoga Journal and Yoga Plus Joyful Living, and has taught vinyasa flow yoga around the world. Rea is the author of award-winning CDs and DVDs, starting projects like Yoga Trance Dance for Life, the worldwide Global Mala Project, and Moving Activism for 1,008,000 Trees. A yogini firekeeper, Rea has studied yoga and dance in their many forms, in countries ranging from India to Jamaica, bringing and teaching this information to the Western world. The New York Times calls Rea, “a powerhouse yoga teacher,” and Vanity Fair hails her, “one of the world’s greatest yoga masters.”
