The Carol Mann Agency was established in 1977 and has long been home to highly-regarded writers of fiction and non-fiction. We are a boutique agency that prides itself on giving individual attention to all our clients and regularly placing projects with leading publishers both in the United States and overseas. Our broad range of tastes, experience shepherding books from their most nascent stages to publication, and relationships with co-agents throughout the world make us one of New York’s top literary agencies.

We are privileged to work with a number of bestselling and award-winning authors. Meet Our Agents & Staff

Carol Mann formed her own agency in 1977 after working as an editor for two years. She has overseen the careers of a diverse group of talented authors in the thirty years since. Carol specializes in non-fiction (health/medical, religion, spirituality, self-help, parenting, current affairs, history, narrative non-fiction) while also taking on the occasional fiction writer. She has and continues to represent an eclectic group of clients that include in addition to those listed on our main page: Jermaine Dupri, Samantha Marshall, Drs. Brock and Fernette Eides, Lauren Winner, Israel Finkelstein and Neil Silberman, Morris Dees, and Roy Rowan.

Laura Yorke is a veteran book editor who has published numerous bestselling and prominent authors, including Maria Shriver, Mary Tyler Moore, Marilou Henner, Sylvia Earle, Barry Paris, Carol Felsenthal, Tracy Thompson, and Michael Weiner-Davis. As a literary agent, her clients include bestselling authors Henry S. Lodge M.D. and Chris Crowley, former anchor Willow Bay, eminent Harvard psychiatrist George Vaillant, noted researcher and former chief of psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Eric Hollander, former Seventeen Editor-in-Chief Sabrina Weil, Chief of Reader’s Digest Jackie Leo, former Cisco CTO Judy Estrin, celebrity nutritionist Oz Garcia, prize-winning journalists Marilyn Berger and Mary A. Gareth Esersky held editorial positions at four trade publishing houses and worked as a book producer and consultant before joining the Carol Mann Agency in 1993. She represents authors whose work falls into the following categories: health, nutrition, psychology, parenting, spirituality, Judaica, and literary and narrative nonfiction and memoir. Myrsini Stephanides joined the team in September 2009. She is interested in non-fiction projects in the areas of pop culture, music, humor, popular science, narrative nonfiction, memoir, and cookbooks. Joanne Wyckoff joined the Carol Mann Agency in 2011 after spending five years with Zachary Shuster Harmsworth. Before becoming an agent, Joanne was a Senior Editor at Ballantine, a division of Random House, and Executive Editor at Beacon Press. Among the authors she worked with as an editor are Michael Thompson, Ph.D., Judith Thurman, Mary Pipher, Karen Armstrong, Bruce Barcott, Louise DeSalvo, Sven Birkerts, Jonathan Kirsch, and Anne Lamott. Eliza Dreier is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Before coming to the Carol Mann Agency, she interned at Writers House and Curtis Brown, and was a freelance editor for The Bent Agency.
